Organization Overview
LDS - Learn. Develop. Succeed. is a growing, innovative, research-based, educational nonprofit serving children, youth and adults with diagnosed or suspected learning differences such as dyslexia and dyscalculia and other brain-based differences like ADHD and ASD.
LDS offers individualized, evidence-based, and technology-embracing programs that target student-specific learning needs. Our growing programs and services operate throughout BC online, from our Learning Centers in East Vancouver and North Vancouver, at in-school locations, and in our mobile classroom.
We provide affordable programs to ensure that all children have an opportunity to realize their full potential. We support learners with early intervention and at all stages of the development cycle, leading to profound, positive changes in student learning and life outcomes. We are scaling up our organization and services to effect system change with material and wide-ranging societal benefits.
We are a diverse group of inspired, dedicated and caring professionals making a significant impact in the lives of the learners, families and the communities we serve. We seek new skills, energy, and talent to grow our team, deepen our impact, and advance our mission.
The Communications Officer will play a vital role in supporting LDS’ communications team in promoting our programs and organization, developing online learning assets, and developing a database for testimonials.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with community outreach efforts by building relationships with local partners, schools, and organizations to raise awareness of LDS’ mission and services.
- Coordinating the distribution of promotional materials, such as posters and flyers, to ensure our message reaches key community locations effectively.
- Support the planning and execution of community events, serving as a representative of LDS to engage with attendees, share information about our programs, and foster meaningful connections.
- Collaborate with program staff to convert existing workshop materials into engaging and accessible online courses for our website, ensuring they align with neuroaffirming practices and are user-friendly.
- Develop an online, searchable database for family, student, and supporter testimonials, streamlining their integration into communication materials such as newsletters, social media, and grant applications.
This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with the communications team to align efforts with LDS’ strategic goals. It offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful initiatives that promote equitable education and community engagement while supporting the success of individuals with learning differences.
